St. Kitts is considered by many to be the financial capital of the Eastern Caribbean; home of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, The Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange, the Eastern Caribbean Regulatory Commission, The Eastern Caribbean Central Securities Registry, the Eastern Caribbean Central Securities Depository, the Eastern Caribbean Institute of Bankers and the Eastern Caribbean Home Mortgage Bank. Our Finance Business is comprised of deposit taking, investment, insurance, trust and corporate business which are regulated by licencing criterion and clear legislation which meet international standards.

The Financial Services Sector continues to grow and do well in spite of the fact that, St. Kitts remains a relatively new player in the market place. Much of the growth in the Financial Services Sector is a result of the introduction of Foundations in 2003 and Captive Insurance Companies in 2006. The formation of Captive Insurance Companies in particular, experienced significant growth in its initial year of existence. Meanwhile, ordinary companies continue to do well as St. Kitts positions itself as a major financial center. This growth is expected to continue its upward trajectory due to St. Kitts’ political stability and competitiveness in the Financial Services Industry.
